"Come along with me,
to my little corner of the world
and dream a little dream,
in my little corner of the world....."
Marie Osmond
I must have listened to that song more than a thousand times as a kid. The first few phrases described my life at that time and even now.
I was always off in my own little world dreaming of my future. Now, I'm making one of those dreams come true.
About nine years ago I bought a nine acre hobby farm; old farmhouse, garage, barn, wooded areas, and meadow. My dog Strider and I moved into the house and began to make it our home. As time went on I began to think about what I could do with the vacant acreage. Sandy loam to crappy sand! What could I possibly grow on that?!
I had a vegetable garden, but I was watering that an hour or more per day! Than I learned about Lavender. It LOVES my kind of soil (so do wees, by the way)! And so it began......... and with the help and support of family, friends, and a faithful dog, Cozy Hearth Lavender Farm was born. I realized I didn't have enough acreage for a commercial farm, but a small agritourist spot is doable.
There have been ups and downs (losing Strider, my dog and best buddy of 15 years) and a seemly slow start, but I've learned a lot and am meeting many new and interesting people, as well as learning about myself.

I'll keep adding lavender, fighting weeds, and dreaming of all the new things I can do to enhance the farm. Like having the barn torn down, before it could fall down, to make room for a store and a pavilion. I am still restoring the house (pics in gallery), was gifted a small greenhouse (still learning how to use it), I added chickens (am learning how to keep predators away) doing a dry riverbed landscape, etc...........
So stay tuned for more updates!!!
